Choir at Grace UMC

Grace United Methodist Church has three choirs and an invitation is always extended to anyone and everyone who would like to join us.

Grace Choir
rehearses every Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Youth Choir
is open to young people, grades 4 through high school, with rehearsals every Thursday, from 6:30 to 7:00 pm. They sing at the worship service on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

Children's Choir
is open to children, ages 4 - grade 3. These children rehearse every Thursday from 6:00 to 6:30 pm, and sing on the 4th Sunday of each month.

An open invitation is always ex-tended to anyone who would be interested in joining the Grace Choir. The excuse most often used is "but I can't sing"... however, when voices join together in a choir, we're not singing as soloists, but as a team...a team who makes wonderful music. So why not give us a try?....share a special fellowship with others, and join us in singing praises to God!

MUSIC NOTES

The Grace Choir is always busy during October and November preparing for the Christmas cantata, which we present in December. Often, people will ask me "What is a 'cantata'?" A cantata is a retelling of the Christmas story done in song, sometimes just by a choir.... often with a narrator joining in. This year, on December 16, the Grace choir will present The Wondrous Story, a cantata, with music and lyrics written by Don Besig and Nancy Price, at our 10:30 Sunday morning worship service. We hope you will join us as we once again hear the wonderful story of the first Christmas.

Our Children's Choir show their love for God by sharing their voices with the congregation on the third Sunday of each month. We have between 6 and 10 members, ages 3 through 12, who rehearse every Sunday following Sunday School. In December, they will be singing on the fourth Sunday, which is the day of the Sunday School Christmas pageant. Also, on that Sunday, two of our choir members will be singing a duet. Be sure to join us in showing our gratitude to the children's choir.

The Gracenotes have a busy December. We will be visiting two of our favorite homes to share a program of Christmas music with the residents. On Saturday, December 1, we will be singing at Seasons of Danvers, where our own Beverly Francis is a resident, and on Saturday, December 15, we will share our music with Ruth Clinch and the other residents at Putnam Farms in Danvers. We would love to have some new members join us. It is so uplifting to watch and hear these folks reminisce with us on music they remember and love to sing. In January, we will be having a rehearsal for a brand new program of Broadway songs and lots of 'nostalgia' songs….. always including a SingAlong. It would be a perfect time to join our group. Just ask anyone who is in our group, and they'll be happy to fill you in on what a great time we have sharing our music!

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

We had a pretty successful season last year with our new arrangement of holding rehearsals following our Sunday Worship Service. We invite all children, ages 4 through grade 8 to go from Sunday School into the choir room for a 15 minute rehearsal, then down to Fellowship Hall for their snacks. The children's choir will sing on the first Sunday of each month at our 10:30 Worship Service. If you have children, please give them the opportunity to participate in the choir; our congregation loves to hear them sing, and in a small way, the children feel that they are offering a special gift to our church family.

If you have any questions, please feel free to speak with Barbara Moore any Sunday, or give her a call at (781) 595-0615.
